Question:

Aquarium Background and Decoration?

I painted the background for my 30 gallon tank. It's cherry blossoms and its on the back of the tank on the outside. I just don't like the premade ones. So I have my 50 gallon now and it has no background. It's decorated with two plants and a big Buddha head where the fish can hide. What would be a good theme background? I don't want to do cherry blossoms again.

Then I was at the store and looking at the Lego kits and there was an Avatar the Last Airbender Fire Ship. Anyone ever used Legos as decoration? I just thought it would be silly and fun to put a Lego ship in. At least it would get some use. Haha.

  1. Lego make great aquarium decorations.  They are plastic and mostly smooth and are completely non-toxic to fish.  I've heard of them being used as decorations in aquariums before and they are both safe and durable.  If you are going to put a Fire ship in the fish tank, why not continue that theme on the background?  Perhaps paint a Firebender island or a Firebender temple?  I agree with you about premade backgrounds.  I paint my own as well.

  2. A good background picture if you draw all kinds of colored gold fish ?

  3. I would be afraid to use legos because they are plastic and might harm fish. I'm thinking of solid blue  foil paper with artificial plants stuck on to attach to back of tank. Give it a 3-d look without using tank space.
