Aquascape?Underwater plants?

I want to try something like this http://www.instructables.com/id/Ikea-Aquascape-on-the-cheap-12/ I have several tall cylinder vases I would like to use but they dont have lids.Do I need to cover the container somehow?

Would I replace the water completely or just add some every week to keep it full?

yeah you have to make some searches at google .

you do not need to cover the container.

as long as there is only vegetation you don't need to replace the water, only fill it up when it starts losing water.
