Aquatic gecko or lizard or something, what is it?

Ok, my dad's coworker gave us some of his pond animals like goldfish, snails and these two aquatic gecko type things, what are they? They don't look like they have scales, small like about 2-3 inches long including tail, Their back and tail is dark green with a few orange dots and the underside is white/pale green with many black specks and the tail also has black specks

newts or salamanders, dont take them out of the water or touch them a lot.
