Aquatic sports are a major part of Hawaiian culture, so how come no Hawaiians made our Olympic swim team?

  1. Small population in Hawaii, so it's tough to compete mathematically with the rest of the nation. Economics also may factor in to the situation; swimming traditionally has been a "country club" sport (like tennis), where the well-off have better access to facilities.


  2. probably beacause most swimming olympians train in baltimore like phelps and felicia lee and katie hoff and maryland is all the way across the country so getting good training is a sacrifice unless you are totally willing to move. hawaii also has a really small population compared with the rest of the country so.... yeah it's hard to compare to big swimming states like new york, california, texas, georgia etc.

  3. Just because they are surrounded by water doesn't mean they have the indoor facilities needed in the training of aquatic sports.

  5. there are wayyyyyy too many fast texas, michigan, california, arizona, georgia, and florida swimmers. hawaii simply can not compete with such talent.
