Spain failed to control the flow of the game and certainly looked to be struggling without influential midfielder, Xavi. The hosts had a wonderful chance to double their lead just after the half hour mark, as Rossi found himself
in a one-on-one situation with Casillas but the Real Madrid shot-stopper pulled off a stunning save to deny him.
Spain slowly started finding their feet and moments later, they were awarded a penalty kick. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giorgio-Chiellini-c14963 pulled Llorente to the ground in an aerial challenge;
only for the referee to point to the spot. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alonso-c5254 stepped up to take the spot kick and buried a powerful shot in the middle of net to make it 1-1 in the 37th minute.
Cassano came extremely close to restoring Italy’s lead just minutes later, as his fierce low shot from 12 yards was dealt with a brilliant save from the Spanish goalkeeper.
Spain made their second change of the game, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048. Italy continued their domination and created several more chances and finished the half with a 1-1 score-line.
