Liverpool midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, following the sacking of the Reds former manager, Rafael Benitez in 2010.
The Spaniard signed the Italian International in August 2009 from AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045, who left
the Merseyside club to join Real Madrid.
However, the midfielder, who was highly rated by Benitez, was sent out on a season-long loan to Juventus by manager Roy Hodgson, following the Spaniard’s ouster in June, 2010.
After completing his stipulated stint with the Italian giants, Aquilani was then sent out on yet another loan deal to AC Milan, this time by Kenny Dalglish, who was at that time the boss at Anfield.
In total, the 28-year old has made 28 appearances for the Reds.
Nevertheless, Aquilani felt that he has remained a victim of unfair treatment from the former Liverpool managers. He revealed that he always wanted to consolidate his career at Anfield, and was gutted for not being given a chance to prove his mettle, even
though the club spent lavishly on him
While talking to reporters, he said: “How can you pay £20 million for a player and this player is never taken into consideration? I never asked to leave but I was always pushed by the club. I am here and I would like to play for Liverpool but it doesn't
depend only on me.”
However, the midfielder has finally seen some light at the end of the tunnel, as new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss Brendan Rodgers has hinted at including him in his future plans for the club. On Wednesday, he featured for 45 minutes in his side’s pre-season friendly game
against AS Roma.
Touching the subject of his brief stay at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, the Italian player insisted that he gave it his best every time he stepped onto the field to play for Liverpool, and believed that he can still make a positive contribution towards the team.
“I cannot say I have unfinished business in English football because I really never played but, the little I did, I believe I was able to show to Liverpool fans that I have quality.”
