Ar all manatee on the endangered list?

Yes. The Trichechus inunguis which lives in the Amazonian Region is at the Vulnerable level. The Trichechus manatus which is native to West Indian is at the Vulnerable level also. TheTrichechus senegalensis which is native to Africa is too at the Vulnerable level!!

Manatee's are in the endangered list for a long time. They are by West Indian manatees in the United States are protected under federal law by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and by Endangered Species Act of 1973

Manatees are docile, peaceful creatures.  Let us save them too.

I believe all manatees are on the endangered list; if they are not, they are on the threatened list.

There is a movement underway in Florida to take the manatee off the endangered list and classify it as threatened.  This has resulted from the "fact" that, according to the latest census, manatee numbers are increasing.

Dear Chives,

Yes, unfortunately our dear sweet harmless manatees have been on the endangered species list since the early 1970's. I love the manatees so much and it really hurts me to know that people in their speed boats run them over and the propellers tend to cut into their backs and leave them dead or leave mangled scars on their backs and just take off and leave them bleeding and helpless after they hit them.  And these same people know they have hit them and do not go back to check on them to see how badly they have mamed them.

we are talking about the sweetest harmless manatees that would not hurt a fly.  They are the gentle giants of the rivers in Florida and should be protected at all costs.
