I didn't see the match, but the Swedes are really po'ed. It wouldn't be the first time I saw Olympic judges cheating for political reasons.

  1. Several wrestling experts has reviewed this in Swedish media and agree that he was cheated. Many coaches from other countries that saw the match also states he was cheated. The referees also had two different explanations of why they gave the match to the Italian. Another strange thing occurred in the first period where the referee is supposed to draw one ball from a bag containing one red and one blue ball. The swedish coach saw that the referee looked inside the bag before pulling out the blue one, which lead to the Italian being awarded the first period after it ended 1-1. The referees also refused to review the videos, which they are supposed to do if a call is uncertain.

The big issue is how the wrestling organization FILA is run. The former head of the organization states that bribed referees is not uncommon. FILA refused to even read the written protest handed in by the Swedish coach. The president of FILA is cousin with the referee, and the vice president is the head of the Italian wrestling team.

  2. The point was awarded while the clock was stopped.  I see no legitimate way for that to happen

  3. I don't know if I would call it being cheated, but I watched the match w/o commentary and didn't really see why the point was given.

  4. he sure was a poor sport.

in all the winning and losing, he will be remembered for his poor performance AS A MAN

it was a huge disappointment for him, and for his countrymen - they aren't the winningest country, after all. but really nothing warrants his behavior.

some of that gymnastics judging was kind of tilted, too, but that is the joy and the tragedy of the system.
