Arabian Star looking to make an improvement at Ascot
Arabian Star had a miserable time in his previous race at Ascot, but he is expected to bounce back in the Les Ambassadeurs Casino Shergar Cup Mile (Handicap) at the same venue on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
The all important class-2 event has attracted some very good runners like Boom And Bust, Bancnuanaheireann and Mull Of Killough. However, it will not be easy for them to outshine Arabian Star, who is an extremely talented performer and has got a decent record
in the sport.
According to the bookmakers, Boom And Bust might prove to be the strongest contender for victory at Ascot, thus they have given him the best odds for victory. On the other hand, his main rival, Arabian Star, has been priced 7 to 1. Both runners will catch
the attention of the punters, as they will definitely be fighting for glory.
The latter of the two runners will like the good to firm conditions in the 1 mile race, but he is not carrying a very good momentum right now. He finished in a disappointing 26th place last time around, which was his worst ever performance since
making debut.
However, that is history now and he will definitely come back fighting at Ascot. He has only taken part in a couple of races this season. Although, his performance in the most recent one was below par, he was quite strong in his first outing this year.
The Andrew Balding’s trainee was given a starting price of 17 to 2 that time around and he stormed to the top comfortably in the end. This goes onto prove that he is not in bad form at all.
Green Desert’s son made his debut in 2010 and has been delivering some decent results since then. He managed to win only one race that year, but the next season proved to be a very good one for him, as he tasted success on three occasions.
The Irish runner has already opened his account in the ongoing season and will be aiming for more victories. He will be partnered by veteran jockey, Frankie Dettori, for the first time in his career. Both will make quite an interesting combination and their
fans will be looking forward to the race.
