Middle Eastern people: please answer my question about your cuisine

I went to an arabic restaurant the other day. The food was lovely. Anyway, so in this restaurant, there was a buffet on. Now I don't know any of the names of the dishes. If I describe the dish, can you give the name?

Spinach curry type thing. Very watery, delicious

s****. of some type, watery, with things shaped like gherkins in it

Tomato rice stuffed aubergines (VERY TASTY. I'd be grateful for a recipe)

Some kind of beans in tomato

Pilau rice of some kind. It was yellow coloured, with very few raisins in it (it wasn't sweet though, it was savoury)

Some kind of barbecued fish. It was quite salty

An arabic version of bombay potatoes, minus the spices?? It had bell peppers in it, and I think it was flavoured with herbs. I've eaten this in almost every Middle Eastern restaurant I've visited

OH AND, can you star the question so it gets passed around the ramadan yahoo community so everyone can see it and answer? THANKS !!

  1. Stuffed eggplant:

You can find other spinach and bean recipes here, too.

The yellow rice must be rice with saffron. Saffron exists in Turkey, but not widely used.

Still, check for pilav recipes. You may find something you like.

  2. i think the stuffed aubergines is called Dolma, it is of a Turkish origin, it is also a main dish in Syria, we make it here in Jordan.

sorry, i dont have the recipe.
