Aramis Ramirez does not intend to return to Chicago Cubs – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez does not intend to return to his club now. His agent Paul Kinzer, while speaking to media, stated that Ramirez was looking for a deal that spans two to three years.
Kinzer struck a confident note regarding the free agent third baseman Ramirez. "Aramis is going to be fine," Kinzer said of Ramirez. "We're not in any hurry. I'm just feeling teams out.”
The Chicago Cubs have recently seen great reshuffles and management changes. From Theo Epstein who became the president of baseball operations for the club to Jed Hoyer, the general manager.
Although the team has yet to find out who the best candidate is for the club’s manager, the player roster is also expected to see some ups and downs. Ramirez, playing for the Cubs, had performed outstandingly well.
He had an average of .306 during the season whereby he made 26 home-runs to his credit, scoring 35 doubles and 93 RBIs. The fact that his performance might not have been recognised the way it should is what Kinzer takes exception at.
Ramirez had won the National League Silver Slugger Award for his performance. But as things have transpired, he is subject to intense criticism as well by the club’s experts, one of whom was Bob Brenly, the TV analyst who commented that it was time that
Ramirez left.
"I'm not real happy about the stuff that came out negative about Aramis," Kinzer said at the Pfister Hotel, prior to the start of the General Managers Meetings. "For a broadcaster to come out and say that I think is very low-class.”
From the response, it had become clear that the agent was not particularly pleased with it. Kinzer also commented that it was hurting for Ramirez to leave the club, but there comes a time when the player has to move on.
It now remains to be seen who places a bid on Ramirez as he is a free agent, given the fact that players like Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder are already in the list.
