Aramis Ramirez finally with the Milwaukee Brewers – MLB News
The third baseman Aramis Ramirez has finally signed a three year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. The foremost reason why he decided to opt for the Milwaukee Brewers was to stay in the National League Central.
It is the Brewers that provide a solid base to the player of his calibre. A part of Chicago Cubs previously, the $36 million deal is indeed reassuring for the player.
His arrival in the team, on the other hand, is certainly a positive news for the Milwaukee Brewers considering other prospects that the team is faced with in the long run. Take for example the case of Ryan Braun who is weathering the storm in the face of
failed drug test, for which he has appealed.
All the same, Prince Fielder is a free-agent currently, whose status is unknown to him and the team as well. There have not been any patent offers which could be reported so far.
However, the deal with the Brewers, on the other hand, gives Ramirez a chance to adjust himself. Previously awaiting the physical, the deal did not seem fully certain. He now believes the team is in building process and is all built to win now.
"I'm at the point where I can't wait, I can't be in a rebuilding process," Ramirez said Wednesday at Miller Park after signing a three-year, $36 million deal. "I think the Brewers are built to win now."
However, Doug Melvin, the team’s general manager, is confident of his choice, saying when the team played against Aramis Ramirez, as he was the player that they feared. Now that he is part of the club, he will be a major morale booster for the team.
All the same, nonetheless, Ramirez knows his constraints. He is fully acquainted with the fact that he cannot supplant Prince Fielder the way is expected, but for sure is he is an adequate substitute in these circumstances.
"It's a 25-man roster and you can't replace Prince Fielder," Ramirez said. "He's one of the best hitters in the game. I'm going to do my best and I'll do what I'm capable of. I won't do what I can't, I'll do what I've done my whole career and that's drive
in runs and try to play good third base."
Given the nature of challenges and complexities the team may face in the absence of Ryan Braun, provided he loses the appeal and Prince Fielder’s departure, Aramis Ramirez arrival is indeed a favourable development. It is now up to the Brewers how they fill
other gaps in their roster. The sooner they do, the better as they will love to go further than the playoffs in the next season.
