Arcam or cambridge audio...???

Question

Ok i'm looking to buy a new hi-fi system... to begin with a new cd player since mine is dead. Right now i have an old Sansui 2000x with Celestion ditton 15 speaker.i listen to rock, pop and most of 70-80 music including blues and jazz. I listen to most type of music ... i was thinking of cambridge audio or Arcam... which one is best? Are there other good brand of Hi-Fi component?

Hi ---- I have a real low opinion of home Hi-Fi loudspeakers.... You pay big $$$ for them and they are worthless a couple of years later... Consider a pair of commercial grade studio monitor loudspeakers..... JBL, Tannoy, Yamaha and other company's come to mind. NOT the consumer stuff but the commercial stuff... If you ever want to trade them or sell them there will be a lot of people lining up to purchase these....

There are several well respected makes of audio equipment at realistic prices.

Read the monthly Hi-Fi magazines to get a feel for what's highly regarded.  

Don't overlook the private adverts for second hand equipment on sale.
