Arch rivals Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei love speedy cars – Badminton News
The most celebrated shuttlers and arch rivals of the 21st century in the Men’s singles category, Lin Dan of China and Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, love speedy cars. Usually they face each other in the final showdowns of major tournaments but the
surprising fact is that both of them like the Nissan GTR.
Chong Wei has recently defeated Lin in the final of the coveted All England Open Premier Super Series 2011, in Birmingham, on March 13. He said that they were talking about the cars they have during the prize distribution ceremony. The World Number One Malaysian
also revealed that whenever they meet, they usually talk about their cars.
Currently, Chong Wei is playing in the China Badminton Super League at Guangzhou, China. He played his first match for the Guangzhou Yueyu Club against China’s rising star, Du Pengyu, who was representing the Zhejiang Yinjiang Club.
The Malaysian lost the opening set to the Chinese with a 14-21 margin, however, he bounced back in the second game by winning it with a tight margin of 21-19. He continued his winning run in the third game and won it with a deserving margin of 21-10. The
final score of the match was 14-21, 21-19 and 21-10.
In the China Badminton League, Lin and Chong Wei are expected to play against each other in the next week’s match between their clubs. The Chinese is busy in commercial shoots at the moment and his presence is somewhat doubtful.
In off-court activities, both shuttlers enjoy driving the Nissan GTR. Chong Wei possesses the car in black, whereas, Lin has this model in grey colour. Together with Nissan GTR, the Chinese also has a Land Rover and Porsche, while Chong Wei also drives a
BMW X6.
These two players are regarded as the best in the business, as both dominate the arena at the domestic, as well as the international level. In head-to-head meetings, the Chinese is ahead with a clear difference of 15-8.
Chong Wei and Lin are expected to retire after the 2012 London Olympics, as both are above 27-years of age. Both car lovers will put up a great show in the mega event of Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Badminton Championships 2011, which is going
to be held in the month of August.
