In your opinion, what does the loss of archaeological sites mean to Georgia's culture heritage? how might a balance be struck between preservation and development?

  1. In my area, the development is overwhelming.  It seems that local governments would have no problem with preserving any new sites found but I think the developers aren't interested. I heard of one developer that went out of his way to make sure an old log cabin was destroyed before anyone could even evaluate it. I've notice, also, that delevopers are getting themselves placed into local governments and worry about that.  Most good local governments are trying to find ways to make their areas unique and want to preserve. Money always wins in the end.  Kennesaw National Battlefield tried to keep development away from the park and the cities' relay was, "Well, they're expensive homes."  Like that was a big difference.
