Archie Moore vs Bob Foster. Who wins?

Dream light heavyweight fight between my personal #1 and #2. 15 rounds and in their prime.

Archie ''The ol' mongoose'' Moore the man with more kayo's in boxing history, a man who fought into his 50's and kayoed Heavyweights! A fighter and legend that even the casual fan knows.

Bob Foster  also a devastating puncher and knocked Mike Quarry out with one of the most vicious punches in boxing history which basically ended Quarry's career. Foster also knocked out Heavys and some decent ones at that. But like Moore couldn't beat the elite. Both men dominated their divisions and a fight between these two would be perhaps the classic of all classics.

After trading knockdowns I take Moore by kayo within 9.

Archie Moore will win if he survive the early right hand power punches by Bob Foster.

Foster was a heavy hitter, but Archie was simply a legend with countless wars to his credit, against superior competition to that of Foster.  At light heavyweight this one would have been spectacular, but Moore had more to bring to the table than Foster, and I can't get Archie's war with Marciano out of my mind.  I give a slight edge to Moore and see Foster fading in the latter rounds.

Archie.  The difference is that "The O'l Mongoose' proved he can bang with the big boys.  Although Foster was beaten up by 'better' big boys than was Archie he still didn't come close to beating any of them.  

Archie went life and death with Marciano.   Foster was CRUSHED by Frazier.  Shot for shot,  Rocky at LEAST equals Frazier's left and CLEARLY surpasses his right.  True there are not many similaries between Foster and Marciano,  beating or losing to one proves little about the other because there are so different.

What it does prove is that Moore can tough it out with the big boys and FIGHT like one of them if need be.   You must also consider his record of KO wins.   A record that is never likely to be broken.   Who has 143 FIGHTS anymore,  much less KOs.

Styles make fights.   Bob can beat many who would trouble Moore.  Moore would suffer a knockdown or two but Foster would fail to keep him down.  

Both Foster and Moore are among the very best 175s.   Still,  Moore is a class above Foster.  He would last a bit longer than he did with Ali.  Still he will fall.
