How would the 'Old Mongoose fare in this clash of the light heavies if they met at their very best?I know were my money would go!

This would be a fight of the light heavyweight legends.  I rank Moore the #1 all time great light heavyweight champ and Foster #2.  Both have great power and good boxing abilty so this makes for a good matchup and a terriffic fight.  I believe that Foster would  win the majority of the early rounds with both men exchanging hard punches.  In about the 6th round Foster would catch Moore and send him to the canvas but Moore would survivie.  From rounds 8-10 Moore would come roaring back and send Foster to the canvas in round 9 but Foster showing the heart of a champion would get to his feet and last the round.  Rounds 11-14 would be about even along with the fight itself.  In round 15 Moore would finish a little better as both men are very weary from a hard fought fight.  Moore would be declared the winner by split decision in a great fight.

Bob Foster was one of the best KO artists at Light Heavyweight, I am going with the Old Mongoose, Archie Moore. I believe he was a very clever boxer, an excellent defensive fighter who could also punch very hard. He also was a bit more succsesful at taking heavyweight punches (although just as Foster, he did not win a heavyweight title).

Foster went the 15 round limit 4 times, whereas Moore went a full 15 rounds 5 times. As Moore was the smarter boxer, I think the longer the fight went, the less of a chance Foster would have of winning. I would go for a Moore KO or stoppage late, perhaps in the 12th or 13th round.

moore might his the canvas a few times early in the fight, but he would rally and get inside fosters reach, then take control of the action to stop foster late in the bout.

Moore has the experience advantage over Foster.  Moore knew all the tricks of the trade.  Moore win by KO late in the fight.
