I would like to buy my friend a book on architecture, anything with great works of architecture etc. What book would you suggest?

Try a book Featuring Frank Lloyd Wright (more residential) or Santiago Calatrava (more commercial).

Pevsner did a series of books on the architecture of each English county,they are out of print now so if you could find one in a local old book shop it would be something special.
