Arctic Ben looks in good shape for Rifles’ Handicap Chase
Arctic Ben is all set to take on eight other horses in the Rifles’ Handicap Chase at Chepstow in England on Saturday, February 25, 2012. The 2 miles 110 yards track is heavy and might test the runners. The cash prize of winning the event is £15,825.
A total of nine runners will be taking part in the race and their names are: Arctic Ben, Buffalo Bob, Educated Evans, Oscar Gogo, Rileyev, Oh Crick, Super Formen, Moon Over Miami and Dinarius.
Out of these entries, the best chances of winning are with Arctic Ben, who likes heavy conditions. He has got a couple of chase victories to his name out of nine times. Other than that, he also has one second and third place finish each.
The eight-year-old gelding, trained by Henry Daly, will be partnered by jockey, Andrew Tinkler, for today’s race. He has been mostly riding the horse of veteran trainer, Nicky Henderson.
Tinkler has got 50 victories in chase races, but he needs to make an improvement in his winning percentage in order to earn the confidence of the bookmakers and punters.
The bettors will also be interested in investing their money on Kim Bailey’s trained gelding, Buffalo Bob. He has got a little more experience in chase races, taking part in 18 of them. However, he only tasted victory in four of those events.
The nine-year-old gelding still has a pretty decent record, as he has got three runners up positions and a couple of third place finishes.
Sean Quinlan will be riding Buffalo Bob in today’s race. He has got a decent record in chase races, winning 32 of them. However, he also needs to be a touch more consistent in order to make a name for himself.
The punters will certainly be interested in Nigel Twiston-Davies’ gelding, Educated Evans, who is fully capable of winning the race today.
The seven-year-old gelding has entered four chase races in his career, winning a couple of them. He will be ridden by veteran jockey, A. P. McCoy, who has got nothing to prove in this sport.
McCoy has earned 311 chase victories in his career and will look to continue adding more to that tally.
Other than the top three favourites, the remaining runners are also quite capable of winning at Chepstow. All of them have got at-least one victory to their name, which will make things interesting today.
