Arctic filled with conviction for the Abergwaun Stakes (Listed Race)
The Abergwaun Stakes (Listed Race) has combined together a field of nine three-year and above runners for the five furlong race at Tipperary on Friday, 10th August. None of the entries on the line-up have celebrated success lately rather their records reflect a series of losses. Some have been placed in the recent races and some have failed to achieve even that.
Getting a 6 to 1 chance for winning the race today is the five-year-old grey gelding, Arctic. It is the level of consistency in his recent outings that has brought him here and has made him the much preferred entry.
Shamardal’s gelding has been active four times during the new season and has claimed a race just once, ending third in the seasonal debut and scoring second in the last two races.
He took off the season with a third position in the Corkracecourse.ie Race on 11th May, 2012 at the Cork race course over six furlongs. Gordon Lord Byron won the race by the margin of 2 ¼ lengths, and set Six Of Hearts as the runner-up.
Displaying tremendous improvement the five-year-old won the very next start of the season. On 15th June, 2012, Arctic won the Follow Navan On Facebook Handicap at Navan race course over six furlongs.
Under the guidance of jockey, Michael Hussey, the ride took up a prominent spot early on and maintained lead halfway through the distance. Raced strongly within the final furlong and defeated the runner-up, Footprint, by 2 ½ lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position was, Battleroftheboyne.
The Paddy Power Sprint (Premier Handicap) on 30th June, 2012 had the five-year-old out of, Shawanni, settling second at the Curragh race course over 6 ½ furlongs.
The race was won by, An Saighdiur.
The most recent race of the Tracey Collins trained was in the Belgrave Stakes (Listed Race) on 15th July, 2012 at Fairyhouse over six furlongs. Slade Power defeated Arctic by just half a length while he was riding with same jockey.
He will once again race with the Michael Hussey, and the two will take on from the first stall.
