  1. Although a snowmobile sounds fun and all..

I'd most likely be bringing LAYERS upon LAYERS of clothing, thermal EVERYthing and chapstick, lol.

Or what about that snow vehicle that was on Disney's Eight Below movie?

I couldn't find the actual picture of one but here's the closest I found.

Anyway.. are you planning a trip to the North Pole or something?

  2. What part of the Arctic? It is a huge area encompassing all kinds of terrain centered on the Arctic Ocean. Only some of it is permanently snow and ice covered. In summer there is a lot of barren ground and open water (more of that every year). In the Arctic land area there are high mountains, large swamps, and other areas where a snow mobile could not be used in summer or even in winter. Parts of the Arctic in Norway are fairly temperate and there are several quite large urban settlements there and in Russia.

If I were to go to one of the land parts of the Arctic (subject to seasickness, I would not go to the water area) I would take, along with the requisite clothing:

a GPS since compasses do not always work well, good maps, extra food and medicine, and in summer lots of mosquito repellent.
