Ardkill Star to hit the debut victory in the College Causeway Open 550 at Shelbourne Park on 14th April
Shelbourne Park will host the College Causeway Open 550 on Saturday, 14th April. The prize money for the race is set at €1000. Taking up the challenge are Coolykereen Imp, Uncle Eoin, Coolard Chief, Ardkill Star, Broadstrand Lad and Royal Patrol.
The most convincing entry for the race is Ardkill Star, Ardkill Jamie’s three-year-old black son out of b***h, Cornamaddy Girl. He is very lightly raced, with just one race on the record for the 2012 season.
On 24th March, Ardkill Star got drilled over 350 yards at Shelbourne Park. He was through the track distance in 18.82 seconds. He scored a second position in the seasonal debut on 7th April in the Sis Open 525 at Shelbourne Park.
The race was won by Bling Bling Buzz who timed the track distance in 28.65 seconds and led the runner up by six and a half lengths. Settling third behind the winner was Gilford Driver.
He struck a hat trick during the previous season and right after that missed the final attempt of 2011.
On 25th November, Ardkill Star won the third heat of the 2011 Tote Gold Collar Round 1 at Harold’s Cross over 550 yards. Ardkill Star timed the distance in 29.90 seconds and had the runner up, Mountaylor Ace, reeling in at three lengths’ distance.
Making it to the third position behind the winner was Nikitas Scut.
The 4/7 favourite then completed the 550 yards trip in 29.90 seconds in the 2011 Tote Gold Collar Round 2 Heat 1 on 2nd December at Harold’s Cross. Once again finishing the closest behind the winner was Mountaylor Ace who timed the distance in
29.96 seconds.
Coming at terms with the third position was Barntick Petal.
He struck a hat trick on 9th December by winning the Tote Gold Collar – Semi-Final at Harold’s Cross by taking 30.11 seconds to complete the trip. The 4/6 favourite winner had Cuil Hawk qualifying as the runner up of the race.
Joining the winner after 30.43 seconds was Ravenswood Joey.
He is well practiced, trained and experienced for bagging the victory tonight.
