Like Don B said it depends on the subs. Basically 15s are going to push more air than 12s. 12s will be more clear, the response is nicer. For me it seems 10s aren't loud enough, 15s aren't clear enough, 12s work for me. Best thing someone ever told me was go to an audio store and listen to them all then decide what you like, then buy  it on line.
