  1. It really depends.  I'm 5'8" and I weigh around 170 and I usually use skis around the 175cm range, so it might be a little on the long side for somebody that's only 150 pounds.  If you have a racing background, though, you could probably handle a longer ski.  I actually like to go longer on carving skis cause that usually means better edge grip and more surface area=more speed because the weight is distributed more evenly.

  2. The current use of race skiis has gotten much shorter since I raced, but for slalom the 175's might be longer than most of the competition is now using.  Length of a race ski for SL and GS is no longer determined by height and weight.  Most Slalom is 155-165 cm, GS 160-170, check the current FIS rules for minimum length.

  3. They will probably work out alright.  You used to race on 170's and I guess you have gained weight and have gotten taller since then so you should be fine.

They should probably be as high as your nose or so I'm guessing so that sounds right for someone with decent experience.

  4. Your height 5'10"= 177cm.

175cm ski should be okay for you if you're not a beginner.

Usually, beginners need skis that are slightly shorter than their heights.  The short the skis, the easier to maneuver.
