there's a riverfest in my town this weekend and my company is competing in the dragon boat race. Altogether there will be 12 people in this long dragon boat. Anyway, the news channels are predicting 20+ mph winds and I was wondering if that's considered too dangerous for rowing. I figure it would be. Just want to know what the chances are the event will be cancelled.

  1. It depends on the wind direction.  If the wind is coming straight at you or from straight behind you, it should be fine, if a lottle choppy.  If, however, it's coming from the side, it could get dangerous, not to mention make steering a problem!  I've had rowing events cancelled for similar conditions, but then again, we're much closer to the water in a narrow racing boat!  I think that it'll be fine, but don't take risks if it looks dangerous.
