Question:

Are 300 count thread sheets better than others?

I'm thinking of buying these sets of sheets for 60 bucks and I know I've seen them for cheaper. Will the 300 thread count make these sheets more comfortable or am I just falling for a gimmick?

  1. The higher the thread count the better the sheets. Anything lower than 300 will get rough like after washing.

  2. 300 is an average sheet, but our Wal-Mart has a higher thread count for a cheaper price!  Check them out before purchasing!

  3. NOW SOME 650 EGYPTIAN IS GOOD STUFF

  4. the higher the better. 300 is good but if you want luxery (along with a big pricetag) go for 600 thread count but anything less than 200 feels like sleeping on gravel.

  5. The higher the thread count, the more comfortable the sheets.  300 isn't actually that high of a number- they'd probably be pretty average.  If you've seen them cheaper, I'd get them from another store or wait until they go on sale.

  6. I agree---300 is minimum for durability and comfort. Check ebay for higher thread count  sheet sets. The higher the thread count---the better durability and comfort you will get. Try 600 thread count and look for 300 or better made from 100% Egyptian cotton.  You will tell a big difference between 300 and 600 thread count. Of course price will also influence your decision.

  7. The higher the thread count the softer the sheet. 300 thread count isn't bad, but I've bought them for less than $60. I just bought a nice set for a double bed 300 thread count and paid $49

  8. The yarn used is spun more finely so the fabric should be smoother. It's like comparing a fine tea towel to a burlap bag. The finer the weave, the softer the feel. Super luxury comes in a 600 thread count. Sleep well!!

  9. 300 thread count is a pretty good sheet, what ever you do, don't buy anything less than 150, it's miserable to sleep on.

Some of the higher counts are good, but they seem to want more money for more threads.

Here's a site that explains the thread count.
