years and they will be super expensive at the beginning just like any new technology is

no.. the technology at the moment is years away. Even in the military this is new and they are often 10-15 years ahead

unless you mean transmission of the 'blurred' pictures and have to wear red / green glasses to get the effect, in which case its when the broadcasters descide to transmit the pictures as the technology is already there - there have been some films transmitted this way.
