The safety issue, you are likely thinking of with vans, applies to 25 seat vans which have a number of passengers sitting behind the rear axle, this makes the vehicle tail heavy and prone to spinning out. Regular minivans have a seating area in between the wheels unpredictable handling is not an issue. Still, I like my new vehicle to have stability control, its an extra safety measure especially in slippery conditions.
