Are ALL of these ways to stop global warming?

I am making a book for school on ways to save the environment and now I am thinking if this is better classified as stopping global warming rather than saving the environment.

Here are the things I will be writing about:

1. Recycle

2. Use energy more wisely

3. Use less water

4. Turn off electric devices when not in use

5. Plant a tree

6. Carpool

  1. Cool thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. yes

  3. Actually, stopping global warming IS saving your environment!! :) Other things you can do would be to use energy efficeint lightbulbs and appliances, using my energy efficent cars (Like Hybrids) and stopping pollution. If you're interested in these topics, you might want to check out the following links, if you haven't already. Hope I helped a little bit!! We can fix the problem---it's like Al Gore says in "An Inconveinent Truth"-- "It is our only home. And we must take care of it."

  4. 1.  Recycling aluminum uses less energy than mining and processing aluminum out of the ground.

    2.  Using less electricity and less engine-powered transportation  helps reduce fossil fuel use and pollution, including CO2.

    3.  Less water use=less water processing, as pointed out.

    4.  Same as 2.

    5.  Trees use CO2 in the air to build themselves (grow).

    6.  Same as 2.

  5. Yes, and more...pls. visit these web pages.

Lifestyle changes can curb climate change

The Stop Global Warming calculator shows you how much carbon dioxide you can prevent from being released into the atmosphere and how much money you can save by making some small changes in your daily life. It’s our hope that the calculator will promote action, awareness and empowerment by showing you that one person can make a difference and help stop global warming.

  6. they are but you also have to keep in my that to use the first of the two of the three R's first as recycling plants create large amounts of pollution

  7. No, none of those answers will stop global warming. They will not even slow it down. The most recent volcanic eruption kinda wiped all the carbon credits you have saved up.

  8. yes definetly they all play a vital role in helping to save our planet. did u no planting by planting 1 tree u save one ton of carbon emissions as thats what trees use for photosynthesis??

try and follow those five things, it could make a big difference in the end.

  9. Yess, all of these will.  One important source of carbon dioxide that you left out is the preparation of cement.  You need to add Use less cement and concrete to your list.

  10. 1. Is not. Recycling saves space in land fills but does not realty save energy.

    3. Is not really, except to the extent that your water supply is provided by use of energy, like water pumps.

    5. That is not a solution in the long run, because trees do not live forever and when the tree dies and the wood decays, it releases all the green house gasses trapped in the wood back into the air.

2, 4, and 6 will slow it but not stop it.

To stop it may be beyond our ability. To end all human contribution to it is within our ability but would require us to stop using all fossil fuels, like coal, oil and natural gas. It is not enough to conserve or use less, all use everywhere in the world would have to end.  We can either do without engines or we can invent new fuel for our engines that does not require us to use coal, oil or natural gas.

  11. I'd like to adress issue #2.

while using energy more wisely is a commendable effort. Just what does that mean? One can certainly save electricity by turning off electric items when they aren't in use. But using enrgy means more than electricity. The burning of fossle fuels is by far one of the greatest sources of carbon in the atmosphere. Rather than turning off lites and such, one can install photovoltaic solar generating systems on their home to reduce the amount of load they put on the electric grid. But if you do that to a gas fired home you can remove the gas burning furnace, range, and water heater to make it an all electric home. And then you will have truely reduced your' carbon footprint on the earth.

  12. Yes they are.

All of them will save energy except plant a tree.

But plant a tree will serve to fix carbon dioxide from the air and prevent it being a greenhouse gas.

I should point out that recycling DOES save energy.

It is more energy efficient to use old tins , cars or glass than to bury the stuff and have to re manufacture those things
