Question:

Are AP Exam Grades important?

How important are the grades you get on the AP Exams? I just finished junior year and took all the AP's I could (4). I got 5's on European History, Physics B and English Literature, and a 4 on US History. I hear that colleges don't really care about the grades as long as you pass, but I'm hoping these help me stand out. I got an 800 on my US History SAT II and 790's on Math Level 2 and Physics. Please tell me whether or not my 5's really make a difference when it comes to the admissions office, or if it only means I probably get credit for taking them. Thanks!

  1. As far as I know, it means you get to skip some classes in college if you pass them. Your college admissions will only see what you got in the class, not the exam, I think, unless you or your teacher recommendation mentions it. In regards to college admission, your SAT IIs are gonna do it for you, not your APs.
