cause on Top Gear a month back, the Top Gear team did a cheap car challenge, where they buy a Alfa and do challenges, and Jeremy Clarkson always say that Alfa are not reliable or something, and to be a true petrol head you must own one in some part of your driving life.

but are Alfa Romeos that bad?

i personally find Alfa a cute looking car (don't ask i'm a girl)

  1. Yes they are

  2. I love the shape of many of the Alfas, both modern and those in the past. Their reliability has been constantly questioned but I suspect they have improved considerably.

  3. They are exhilarating to drive, pretty to look at, but poorly made and have a reputation for unreliability.  Sad but true.

  4. Here come all the bar-room experts again!

Modern Alfas are as well made as any other car, and if you look at any recent customer satisfaction survey (Like the one in Top Gear magazine, for instance) they fare as well as many VWs, Audis, Saabs etc.

Like all cars, they used to rust badly, just the same as old BMWs and VWs did, but I'd be VERY surprised to see any rust on an Alfa under 10 years old nowadays, mine is a 2001 car and there's not a speck of rust anywhere on it, it's been totally reliable, everything on it works perfectly and it's an absolute joy to drive.

And it looks beautiful, which is something I cannot say for most other modern cars.

  5. No, You can expect to be needing more repairs than an average car, but the roadsters are such a delight to drive , that it may be worth it

  6. Much better these days, but they were infamous for rusting as you looked on, and the electrics packing in.

  7. They are "cute" cars but run poorly!

  8. Alfa's are nice to drive, but utterly unreliable

Put them in the same mould as Lancia.

had one of each, never again.

AS a company car, or a day-hire - great, but as something to own....no thanks.

  9. Very simple answer. Yes they are.

  10. They have sporting heritage, but are poorly made, They used to rust in a few years, but they were always nippy. Also, dont take any notice of that big lummox.
