Are American Accents Obnoxious?

I AM TALKING ABOUT THE AVERAGE STANDARD ACCENT (not southern or brooklyn accents). it would be nice to have a foreigner answer this question. give me the truth. some freaking kiwi chick told me she thinks american accents are annoying while my aussie friend think its hot... i dont know, tell me.

Get off your high horse, mate. Every region of the world has its own accent. It's your own prejudices that make one or the other "annoying."

No more so than any other. But there is no standard American accent - there are 300+ million of us spread across the width of North America - how could there be a standard accent? There is no standard English accent and England is tiny in comparison.

I have heard some awful accents from all over, both in the US and abroad. Lose the kiwi chick, problem solved. How much of the US/Americans has she seen that she can make such pronouncements? I thought we Americans were supposed to be the arrogant ones.

There is no, one American accent.  There are dozens depending on what part of the country you're talking about.  Just here in Louisiana, there are at least 3-4.

Personally, I don't think anyone's accent is annoying.  I love accents, and I love talking to people with different accent.

every country had their own accent and nothing is wrong with that.. american accent is easier to understand compared to british accent tho. british accent is kinda too heavy

edit: i like to imitate the british accent though.. i love all accents american,scottish , french, dutch, german well except for those... accent like thailand or well u know rlly wierd..
