Are American CDLs and Canadian CDLs the same?

Im looking into getting my CDL here in the US before I move to Canada. Will there be any issues?

  1. There may be slight differences, but overall it's the same. Canada does have different Hours of Service Laws.


  2. I am from New York and we recognize Canadian driver's licenses, and they may transfer and get a New York license if they move here. i am sure other states have simular set ups.
