Question:

Are American Kids Today Becoming Spoiled?

What ever happened to the generation of mowing lawns to earn your money or working at a car wash/ part-time job? Why aren't kids being told to work for what they want and get it themselves. I have worked since I was 14 and kids today are getting everything for free from their parents cars at 16, money jewelry expensive clothing.

Why are we so focused on material items?

  1. spoiled, lazy and fat.

  2. Its because times have changed now. But its good that you're one of the few who are working hard.

No wonder why there are majority of obese people in US today (60%)

  3. That's because all the jobs you listed are now being performed by illegal aliens.  Teens don't have to many marketable skills and these used to be the jobs that they did, but they're no longer available.  I remember when fast-food joints were where all the kids worked for spending money, but not anymore, I can't even place my order in the language of my country let alone expect to get what I actually ordered.  When kids work it allows them to establish a work ethic, be exposed to a larger and diverse population of the public, learn how to manage multiple responsibilities (ie. work/school), as well as learning the value of money.  I have two teen brothers now who are both interested in being employed but there are no jobs because apparently those are the "jobs that nobody wants".  I didn't know the unemployment rate for the US became zero.  This is really going to hurt the American kids and America as a whole, when their first job is not obtained until after college, they need to get a clue before that.

  4. the whole country is degrading as time passes. the kids are just the product.
