  1. Most Americans are clueless. They have no idea how close they are to death, due to panic.

Look at the price of wheat and rice...why are they soaring?

The smart folks are putting away food and water, in every nation...quickly and quietly.

The people of Pompeii partied till their final hour, also.

  2. To me, we are less vulnerable.  We, as a society, have embraced the concept that we have a moral duty to help the less fortunate, even when they are unwilling to help themselves.

We not only provide opportunities for success, but entitlements and subsidies for those who refuse to be productive.

We won't make the ones on the lowest end of the economic scale rich, but we will provide them relief from hunger and a place to lay their head at night.

You may be referring to the concept that the working poor of this country are falling further behind those in the upper levels of economic proclivity.  That is true.  But, that is a fact of life which has been manifested throughout human history.  We will always have an upper level economic class and those who work diligently to attain this status.

Most of us will fall way short of that halcyon state.  But, that doesn't mean that we are poor.  We just occupy a middle ground which is usually a direct correlate to our innate potential and our willingness to sacrifice, in terms of educational pursuits and diligence.

But, make no mistake, we will always shore up that bottom rung because we always fear that we may step there tomorrow.
