Are Americans really like that?

On the T.V. talk shows like Maury and Jerry Springer, are the guests on these shows actors or are Americans really like that? Just curious because I don't know anyone who doesn't know who their baby's daddy is or had to get a paternity test because they slept with 5 different guys in the same week.

Maury is real, jerry springer is fake.  But seriously, not all Americans are like that.  Most are certain who the fathers of their kids are.

It's a drama show so everything is kind of blown up. And no Americans are not usually like that unless there is something seriously wrong lol

it's unfair (and ridiculous) to assume that all americans are like that.  i mean, to generalize that we are all 'the same'  would lead one to ask " the same as what?  the cab drivers in new york, the cowboys in texas, the farmers in the midwest or the celebrities in california?"  

just take the show for what it's worth.  low brow, white trash attempt at humor for people who have low brow, white trash taste.

Jerry Springer is as fake as your grandma's dentures, hunny. Watch Oprah, Dr.Phil or Ellen. Jerry Springer "acts", as well does his trashy guests on the show. And Maury, well, I've never watched that, but I'm sure it's fake too.

i am sure not all americans are like that, but there is obviously quite a few as those shows have been on for a very long time

No, not all Americans are like that.  I think a lot of that garbage is set up for camera.  They are just ghetto white trash.  Shows like Maury and Jerry Springer don't reflect on the American public well because that kind of TV is trash.  Entertaining, but trash.  I haven't seen a Jerry Springer show in probably 10 years.  No desire to watch it.  And every race and country has their own version of white trash.  Not just Americans.

The Maury show is a complete joke,but d**n funny at the same time! ;)

I thought our show's here were bad,...but compare to the States,it's know where near as outragious!

No, that's fake. Most people won't even air their dirty laundry out like that. It's almost impossible for there to be so many women who dont know who's their baby's daddy. But, regardless people still watch these shows.

Well, I'm pretty sure the actors in those shows are actors. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know people in those positions, but it's not so ridiculous. It's like America, way intensified for entertainment.
