I know the history of Argentina friends. It just seems to me that they choose to pass themselves off as European rather than Latin Americans like all the other countries in South America.

Is this a reference to many Argentinians having surnames that are italian in origin. Many italians immigrated to Argentina, especially during the World Wars, so that's where most of the names come from.
