  1. Yes. I think it mainly has to do with differences within their culture. Although similar in many ways, Austrian culture is less influenced by western media so they are less likely to copy stuff they see on MTV and such.


  2. I think there's more of an urban/rural difference in shyness than German/Austrian.  Germany has more big cities, so it seems rowdier.  But in both countries, people tend to be reserved and aren't very chatty with strangers.
