Question:

Are BBT's a good indicator that you have actually ovualted?

It seems that sometimes charting can be a little confusing. I was wondering if it is a good indicator of ovulation. I had a positive OPK on last Friday and saw my BBT go up two days after that and it is still currently up. So does that mean I actually ovulated or is this just a normal occurence? Could I have the rise but not have actually ovulated? Any advice is always greatly appreciated, thank you.

  1. OPKs can give false readings, but BBTs are reliable. Seems like you absolutely did ovulate, and that both methods reliably confirmed it for you. The OPK is normally positive one day before ovulation and the BBT spikes one day after it. I would put my money on ovulation being Saturday, so that means you're at 5dpo today. Good luck!!!

  2. No, the rise means you ovulated.  You can, however, has a positive OPK and then not ovulate.  So, the only definitive way is to watch your BBT's, which you did, to look for the rise.

    Congrats!

  3. If your BBT has risen and remains elevated then it confirms you ovulated.
