Are Bauer VI skates good? Also, how do you break-in a skate?

I'm wondering if buying ice skates from the sports authority or the LL Bean or ***** sporting goods is just the same as ordering a set of skates from say hockeymonkey.com. I bought my Bauer VI's for about $70 and they seem to be a good fit, but I'm wondering if I made the right choice, because of the price of the skate compared to the $270 i paid for a previous set of Easton skates that were never comfortable.

Also, the skates definitely need to be broken in, so, I'm curious to know what the signs of a broken skate are, and how to break them in.

I'm not very familiar with hockey skates so I can't really help you much with that part of your question, but as far as breaking in skates here are a few tips:  skate for short periods of time, and re lace your skates often, and when your skates begin to break in they will usually start to get lines in the boot, and they will bend much easier. there good skates ive had them um the way to break in a skate is usally when you buy the skate theyll bake it and mold it to your foot. and then you just have to skate on it. youll know its broken in when its comfortable to skate and walk in them.

I'm not sure about the skates but to break them in you need to wear them, A LOT. It takes a minimum of 10 hours of wearing them for them to properly break in. When you skate with them (if you are not wearing tights) make sure to wear thin socks. Thick socks will make the pain worse. Once they are broken in they will feel comfortable and you will be able to bend your ankle easily.

you need at least periods of 2-4 days for 2-3 weeks for the skates to break in with at least a two hour session . when it does break, you'll feel more comfortable wearing them and you're ankles wouldn't hurt as much. skates by Bauer usually have great quality, so they're good.
