Are Birth Charts different for twins in any way? What about non identical twins with different minutes apart?

Most twins are born a good few minutes apart. Some are even born more than 20 minutes apart. That can make a lot of difference. I found that if I had been born only a few minutes later, my rising would have been Scorpio instead of Libra, which would have an affect on my personality. Same with twins...And even if they do have the same signs, there will always be psychological effects that influence things.

There has been real testing on this subject.

In large city hospitals there are "time twins". These are children that are born at the same time and place but to different parents. This happens enough to be the subject of testing and this has been done. To read about this, start at page 13 of the PDF link below.

To no ones surprise, there were no similarities.

Edit: If we truly have free will, then astrology is pointless.

Edit: Why should anyone blindly believe? Where is that data? Can it be confirmed be others? Claims of such accuracy without the data is only speculation. If astrology is 75-80% accurate, that would be remarkable. Far better than random chance. So why have you not published this? If true, this is a Nobel Prize winner for sure. A new science that will destroy all the laws of physics.

Hi Laro!

I know a set of twins!  They're fraternal twins, a boy and a girl.  They were born 4 minutes apart, and their charts are basically identical.  Probably because they weren't born near a cusp on the Ascendant.

i guess i'll just say, yes. since twins are usually born a couple of  minutes apart, their birth charts will be a bit different. sure, they'll have the same sun sign. but the ascendent and other placements may differ to some point.

The question is often posed: "You have two identical twins born at the same time in the same place to the same parent, but their lives are not identical. Therefore Astrology must be bogus."

First of all identical twins are NOT born at the exact same time. They are usually a few minutes apart. In fact it is really not common AT ALL for two children of the same gender to be born at the SAME MINUTE in the same building, ever.

In Vedic Astrology a difference of just a minute or two of birth changes the divisional charts significantly and can even change the rising sign and house positions. Thus you have situations where some twins or some people born at the same time lead quite different lives.

In other situations (when we are not near the cusp or “sadhi” of the ascendant, for example) the difference of a few minutes in the same location of birth does not create vast differences in the horoscopes. Thus, you have other situations where some twins lead very similar lives.

Besides all that, we have to admit that human beings are not robots. We have freewill, and are influenced by the historical era we live in, the country and culture we experience, and the type of people we hang out with. Freewill provides for an unpredictable level of variance in one's life experience. This can be looked at in cases where nearly identical births cause very different life experiences not warranted by the difference in birth time.

EDIT: Changeling's answer describes two people born in the same city on the same day within a FIVE MINUTE INTERVAL. As far as Vedic Astrology is concerned (and even in many cases for Western Astrology) Five Minutes is a VERY significant time difference.

Also, to say "there were no similarities" shows an unscientific and categorical bias to data results. Statistically even by sheer luck there must have been SOME similarities.

In general Vedic Astrology practiced by an expert can be 75-80% accurate. This is better than most medical doctors, by the way. 15% of the lack is due to common exersize of freewill, and the remaining amount is just due to lack of brain substance to comprehend the amazing vastness of astrological implications in full.
