Are Bowling and Golf a Sport? Do you consider then a sport of hockey, baseball and football? How would you classify it as a sport? Because then technically do you draw the line at a spelling B on ESPN? Help me out with this arguement at work with my coworkers....

  1. If you have trouble understanding, go play golf. When your done you won't need to argue. You'll know. : )

  2. God i hate espn, get a load of this,

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/spo...

but golf is definetely a sport

  3. Hey Big g you have to be an athlete to play golf. If your not fit and coordinated you cant play golf. So yes they are sports.

  4. bowling, golf, baseball, football, and hockey are all sports!

  5. I didn't think so when I was young, but I have one thing to say...try them.  If you think they are so easy see what it take to get good. It is no mistake that Tiger Woods, a golfer, is the most recognizable athelete in the world.  And go to the bowling alley and see how tough it is to pick up a spare let alone a strike.

  6. Hey the Big G above me .......

You dont think Tiger is an athelete do you ?? .. he goes to the gym stright after his 3000 calorie buring round !!

Not to mention paul casey & bradley dredge who spend 2 hours a day on their FOREARMS !!.

These guys can acchive a club head speed of over 120mph..

and you still dont think its a ******* Sport

  7. No one really knows. There are 1860 previous people, you are no. 1861, that have asked this same golf question on Y!A. Read all of those responses and settle your interoffice argument.

  8. YES!!! both are sports.  they both require physical skill and athleticism (if you say no, you have never tried either.)

  9. Ya they are both definetly sports

  10. I think by the technical definition of "sport" (Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. ) golf and bowling DO qualify, HOWEVER...my personal opinion is that it's not a sport unless you have to be an ATHLETE to compete.  For me this eliminates golf, bowling, poker, spelling, and fishing/hunting.  Just my opinion though.

  11. if what your doing is physical than its a sport, golf is definately a sport, the golf swing is a highly complex move that takes a ton of physical control and skill. bowling you have to throw the ball down the lane so yes thats a sport, although personally i dont think it takes as much skill as golf.

spelling bee and things like poker dont take any physical skill or ability so they are not sports

  12. under 50 no over 50 yes
