  1. They're called "Castanhas do pará"!

  2. Yes, they are called "Brazil nuts" because they come from the Brazil Tree.  But most of them actually come from Bolivia, not Brazil!

  3. Other way around.  Brazil nuts come from the Brazil tree and we've been eating them for thousands of years..  When the Portuguese arrived in South America, they found them growing there.  It's only by chance that the country didn't get called Dandelion.

  4. give the 10 to Vic..

The only one to back her statement with a reliable web site..

I will add it to my favorites thanks

  5. I'd still call them Brazils..

  6. They are still called Brazil Nuts so as to differentiate between all the other nuts. After all we still call the English Hazel nuts by their full name. If we called them just NUTS then we would not know if we were referring to Brazil or any other type of nut.

  7. yep

  8. No - they have their own name for them.

  9. No we don't. We call it castanheiro do para, the word nuts isn't portuguese.
