British people generally have no problem with Americans. Newcastle is a very friendly city.

Most British people are as friendly to North Americans as North Americans are to them. If you walk around being the stereotypically obnoxious "ugly American", they're going to be a******s to you. I'm Canadian, not American, but when I was in the UK, I had absolutely no problems with the British people, nor did any of the three Americans I was with.
