Question:

Are CA driving permit reprints done on the spot?

Hi, I'm kind of in urgent need of a reprint of my California learner's permit. My driving test is real soon. I can't afford to reschedule it, considering my permit expires in less than a week. Perfect time to lose it...

So I was wondering, do they give you the reprint right away? Or would I have to wait a few days? I checked the website already, it didn't say anything about when I would get it.

It also said I would only need to complete the DL44 form and have my parent or guardian sign it. Just to double check, I don't need to bring stuff like my school ID or birth certificate or social security card right?

Thank you.

  1. As I remember they will issue you a temporary right on the spot, and the actual document will arrive later.  You can use the temporary to apply for a driver license.

You should always bring some ID with you.  But since you will be fingerprinted that might not be necessary.

  2. call the dmv and ask them
