I ask because my boyfriend used to play in the CFL for the Montreal Alouettes. I want to know more of how that experience was for him...(groupies, etc.)

  1. away from the stadium, most CFLers aren't even recognized. they can do push-ups in their driveway anytime without making a big scene or anything. they are very good at what they do and are usually likeable, popular guys, but paparozzi don't wait outside their home or anything.

  2. There are groupies, more so in some places than others.  His experience would have been what he made of it, your best bet would be to ask him.

  3. they are here in Winnipeg, we know how to treat our players with class, like as if they are from the NFL, im sure that Roughie fans treat their players the same.....but in Toronto, Calgary, B.C., Edmonton they are not as highly regarded.

  4. no

  5. I think some players in their respective cities are more popular than others for sure. Obviously more of the glory position types for sure. But I highly doubt anybody would recognize their favorite O-lineman on the street!

  6. Only in Saskatchewan, heh heh...

Well, perhaps the star players might be, but if you're a benchwarmer making 40 grand a season, then I don't think people would even recognize you.  Saying "I play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats" isn't going to get you on the guest list at any clubs.

  7. Some of the stars might be but the average player most Canadians would never recognize never mind idolize.

  8. only the all star cfl players like MILT stegall
