I am in High school and am thinking about going to college in Canada. Are the universities there cheaper? By how much would you say? Is it difficult for US residents to get into Canadian Schools? Any information is greatly appreciated!

  1. The price difference between the two countries is all relative. Yes, Canadian universities are generally cheaper, but the 'international student fee' can be steep at some schools. At other schools it hardly matters. You really need to check the schools and compare.

The process of applying is about the same and you actually have a better chance (in my opinion) because many universities hold extra seats for international students.

Just about everything you need to know about applying to school in Canada can be found on the website below. It provides an overview of the differences between the two educational systems, search engines to find a school that fits your interests (by major, region, etc.), a link to a website that will put you in contact with America students already attending a school you might be interested in, how to find your Canadian school code to complete for FAFSA for U.S. goverment loans, legal documentation needed, how you can get a part-time job, and even a suggested packing list!

Enjoy your journey and good luck!
