okay im american...i was just looking through YA and noticed ALOT of americans post things about canadians and brits being anti american...

i dont know if its really true but it seems americans are more anti american than canadians and brits combined.

and most of us americans seem to just judge the whole country by one person being a jerk (personally i like canada and britain and hope to visit one day)

so is this accusation true or is the whole america the most anti american thing true?

  1. just like every other country that has ever existed, there are some people who don't like america and some who do. big shocker, i know.

  2. I'm European American and I live in America and I wanna say that most of the things people say here on YA are their own opinion about a specific person they either met in person or online. By the way I'm visiting Canada next weekend for the first time so I'm really excited to see what it's like there, but that doesn't mean that if i see something that i don't like in a person im gonna say that all Canadians are like that. Do you kinda get my point? I hope i wasn't confusing you. lol. .

  3. yea it's true it's because we are sick of all you homosexual-loving bleeding heart liberal Americans

  4. Many, especially young, British and Canadians hear absolutely nothing but negative stuff about the United States and Americans in general; grateuitous anti-Americanism is very widespread in popular culture, media and academia in Britain and Canada....you could say it's considered "hip" to make fun of Americans, call them all fat, stupid, loud etcetera.

Reality:  Most of the people who do this or get off on it are insecure, ignorant, and many have never been to the United States or have because of the reasons stated above a very wharped view.

In the case of the UK: It's a very small country compared to the U.S; everything revolves around one city, London, and going from London to Scottish highlands is roughly the same distance as Boston to Chicago, maybe a little less...the whole UK is a little smaller than one state, Oregon! My point to saying all this is many English,Scottish,Welsh (and Irish) especially those who've never travelled in North America, have difficulty conceptualizing a place of such vast size as America, not to mention the huge diversity in everything...they're like small town people picturing NYC; they have no frame of reference. NYC or Boston to Seattle is more than 3000 miles....London to Moscow is half that!

Canada is a different story: For all intents and purposes Canadians and Americans are the same people...regardless of what some Canadians will say, 99% of the rest of the world can't tell the difference and thinks of them as one and the same; but the inequality in size (population and economy) and influence (social, political, military, economy) naturally creates tension mostly on the Canadian side...for example it's convient for a Canadian politician or political party to demonize America and Americans to some extent because it plays on humans natural anxiety and from a geo-political standpoint they know they can get away with it with little to no consequences...kind of like making fun of your family, it's simply tolerated to a large extent.

Finally, remember this: It's sad, but the n***s and many others before them, after them and in the future seem to extinctively know; everybody it seems needs somebody to hate, to blame when things don't go their way or they feel powerless...human nature. The Romans were hated and now it's the Americans turn...whoever's on top is hated.

  5. well.....lets just say our choice in leadership aint so endearing to them. Sure, you can argue that the government has nothing to do with the people, but this is Democracy and we are "free" as we so often love to point out, and since we pick our leaders they reflect the character traits most prevalent amongst us

  6. American accusation. Most Canadians I've known are really nice. And there's nothing wrong with being a liberal. Conservative Americans suck.
