Question:

Are Christians suppose to be messengers of the gospel and examples of love?

I read many questions on "what a Christian is" and I figured out that many "Christians" hate others and do not want to contribute spreading the gospel.

Is that a characteristic of a Christian, or a self-claiming Christian?

God gave the gift of salvation to a Christian, is it selfish to not want to help others receive this gift also?

Are Christians suppose to hate people or hate the actions of people?

Are there misunderstanding of who Christians are by non-Christians and "so-called" Christians themselves?

Sorry, for asking so much, but I just find it truly annoying that many people have misinterpretations of Christianity.

  1. Christians are not allowed to hate ANY other human being on the planet.

And yes, we are to be salt and light to the world and examples of Christ's love on Earth.

  2. Yeah you have it right. Some people become Christian only to escape h**l. To score some rewards, you could do some work for God with faith. Or maybe some feel lazy like sometimes I do, just to spread the gospel. You could still call em Christians, because Christian is one who has accepted Jesus as personal savior.

I think it is selfish to not share the gospel but maybe if you were a strong Christian, your spiritual gift may not be evangelism. Christians should hate the sin, not the sinner. We're sinners too, can't hate everyone that much. There could be a misunderstanding, but when you realize you need forgiveness, and accept it, it's God's grace.

  3. Who knows which religion is the right one?! I'm Catholic, because my whole family is Catholic. Truthfully i don't care if was catholic, Buddhist, Orthodox etc. I'm still a good caring loving Pearson, who  doesn't judge people by their religion, skin, or size of their bank account. I would never do harm to a Pearson or animal, and i hope the GOD will see that. :)

There's plenty of people who are evil and they are religious and the other way around :)

  4. There are so many aspects to answer on your question, but in short....Christians are still human and still sinners.  Christians are not perfect by far.  A Christian is certainly to strive to be Christ like and to be an example of love and to share the word with others; however, everyone's journey is unique.  Not every Christian has reached this place within the journey just yet and some have been led astray.  And, still others have been guided by others that have a very misguided interpretation of what Christianity is all about.  So, in summary...one should not judge Christianity as a whole based on the observations of one or two people.  Get all the facts!!!

  5. the duties of a Christian..."Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit". that is the Great Commision. It also says that..."Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved but whoever does not believe will be condemned"

  6. Most Christians are not really Christians. A true Christian is one who has been anointed through the gift of the Holy Spirit in Baptism and becomes a follower of Christ. A true Christian belongs to the Church established by Christ on the foundation of the Apostles, possessing the fullness of the means of salvation. A true Christian hates nobody and should love everybody as Christ does. Many Christians are Catholic bigots and will say anything to discredit the Catholic Church. Some Christians take great delight in telling Atheists they will go to h**l for refusing to believe in God.Some Christians are very disrespectful towards Mary and make fun of her. I find this very disturbing. The Blessed Virgin Mary said "There is but one God and that people have enforced unnatural separation. One cannot truly believe, be a Christian, if he does not respect other religions as well. You do not really believe in God if you make fun of other religions".

EDIT..2 "thumbs down"!.Looks like I've upset someone. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

  7. It depends upon who you ask. The definition of christian should mean to be Christ-Like. But it has been used by the church to represent the followers of the church created using their own teachings and His Good Name. Nowadays to be a "Christian" all you just have to believe Jesus was Christ and give some of your money and/or power to the church. Jesus made it out to be allot tougher.

  8. That is a very good question and observation.

You are very true in saying that Christians are messengers of the gospel and examples of love. Unfortunately, there are many "Christians" out there that are quite the hypocrites, and take God's word and distort it for their own benefit. Being a Christian means you are a follower of Christ. As a Christian, we strive to be like Jesus, to love and serve and treat others like He did.

It is our job to spread the love and good news of God, that all of us have the choice of salvation. God loves us all, and wants as many of us as possible to end up in His presence in Heaven. Salvation is not something that we are supposed to be selfish with. Actually, there is nothing that we should be selfish with. Salvation is a gift that we need to keep passing on.

We are here to tell people that there is a Father that created them with all the love in His heart, and he wants nothing more than to have a wonderful relationship with them.

And there are plenty of people that confuse hatred of sin with hatred of people. You love the person, but hate the sin. So we try to teach them to turn from sin, so that they can know the beauty and love that is God.

However, just as non-Christians stereotype us, we need to stop stereotyping them. It's not our job to try to force them to convert. It's our job to inform them and let them know of God's presence and existence, and whether they come to Him or not is just between them. We set an example by living and doing what God commands us to do, and we must strive to follow His will and not our own.

  9. Pretty much, Yes =)

Than your not a true Christian if you 'hate' any fellow human. I dont hate anything or anyone =)

Trust me, its hard in such a hateful world.

EDIT: Sorry, I worded things badly before! =)

  10. "Jesus approached and spoke to them (the disciples), saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”-Matt.:18-20

“By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”—JOHN 13:35.
