Question:

Are Contacts Lens Allowed as Carry-On?

I want to bring two small packets of contacts with me. Meaning I'll be bringing TWO Contact Lens only in it's original unopened little plastic thing; not the box. One for my left, one for my right. I'm not bringing any solution.

Do I still need to put it in a ziplock bag?

  1. i just did it last week. I didn't give it a second thought. I had them in my carry-on bag which went through the screener. (but maybe they just overlooked them). My other toiletries were in my checked baggage.

  2. Any liquids, gels and aerosols (3 oz. and under) in your carry-on need to be in your ziploc bag.

Now...if you just keep it in  your carry-on and don't say anything, they probably won't notice or care. BUT, if they do, it could cause you a lot of unneeded hassle. For the limited effort and expense of putting it in a ziploc, I'd say better safe than sorry.

  3. If there is no liquid involved, you don't.  I travel with mine in their cases with no problem.  If you are soaking them, then you should put them in a plastic bag.  Otherwise, don't worry at all!

  4. Friggin ridiculous, isn't it?  We're asked by society to clean ourselves and have good hygiene, but if you travel anywhere they don't allow over a certain amount of toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, even lipstick or shave cream.

    Good grief!!!

  5. i didn't put it in a bag and i had two boxes of it!  i didn't get any trouble, though to be safe i'd do it anyway me thinks.
